Who is she?

Mounira Al Hmoud is a storyteller, field producer and foreign media consultant based in Washington DC. She worked with outlets from France, Canada, the U.K., Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iran. Until recently she was Washington Bureau Chief for Iran International, the largest Iranian diaspora global channel.

Her reporting in multimedia news – for French speaking and U.S. media in Washington – led her to cover national news and politics but also diplomatic and human stories. She covered the all three presidential campaigns since 2020, States of the Union, Inaugurations, and notably the Boston Bomber Trial from inside the courtroom for French news channel Canal Plus / I-tele,

Background:

A graduate of The American University of Paris and Boston University’s College of Communication, Mounira started out as a Statehouse correspondent for the MetroWest Daily News and later as a multimedia editor for The Christian Science Monitor‘s Science section as well as a freelance editor for the largest francophone magazine in the U.S., France-Amérique.

Based in the nation’s capital for ten years, she first covered the Vermont delegation in the U.S. Congress for the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus, earning a BU scholarship for her coverage. She was a multimedia editor on the English desk of Agence France-Presse.

Prior to leaving her hometown Paris she interned at France24 and worked as a multimedia editor at the online female publication Glamourparis.com.

She is fully bilingual in French and English and has a conversational level of Spanish and Arabic.
